Golden Agri-Resources (GAR) is one of the largest palm oil plantation companies in the world.
Our plantations are located in Indonesia and we manage more than 480,000 hectares of palm oil plantations (including smallholder farmers). We are a leading seed-to-shelf agribusiness—from growing oil palms with farmers to producing food for the present and future.
Sustainability is an essential part of our business and we are guided by our GAR Social and Environmental Policy (GSEP). The GSEP is the roadmap we share with our employees, smallholders, suppliers, and customers as we work together to realise GAR’s vision of a sustainable palm oil industry.
GAR believes that farming palm oil is an effective way to create jobs and alleviate poverty, and provides opportunities for communities to secure a better livelihood for themselves. As one of the largest plantation companies in Indonesia, operating largely in rural and remote areas, we not only play an active role in the well-being of our employees, but also in the wider communities where we operate.
Founded in 1996, GAR was listed on the Singapore Exchange in 1999 and the corporate office is located in Singapore. GAR has several subsidiaries which include PT SMART Tbk, our business operating in Indonesia; Victory Tropical Oil, our distribution business in Europe and the US; PT Dami Mas Sejahtera, our certified DxP seed producer and supplier; and our various businesses in China.
PT SMART TbkPT SMART Tbk’s (SMART) palm oil plantations cover more than 138, 000 hectares (including smallholder farmers). SMART’s primary activities are cultivating and harvesting oil palms, processing fresh fruit bunches (FFBs) into crude palm oil (CPO) and palm kernel oil (PKO), and refining CPO into value-added products such as cooking oil, margarine and shortening. We operate 16 mills, four kernel crushing plants and four refineries across Indonesia.Besides bulk and industrial oil, SMART’s refined products are also marketed under several brands such as Filma and Kunci Mas. Today, these brands have been recognised for their high quality and command significant market share in their respective segment in Indonesia.
Founded in 1962, SMART was listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 1992 and is based in Jakarta. A subsidiary of Golden Agri-Resources (GAR), SMART has the oleochemical business, Sinarmas Oleochemical (PT SOCI MAS) and the SMART Research Institute (SMARTRI) under our range of operations.
Sinarmas OleochemicalSinarmas Oleochemical also known as PT SOCI MAS is a subsidiary of PT SMART Tbk.Sinarmas Oleochemical provides a one-stop solution for the supply of oleochemicals in the form of fatty acids and glycerine. With a commercial office based in Singapore, we are represented in Asia, Europe, North America, Africa, the Middle East, and the Indian subcontinent with an estimated total annual capacity of 240,000 metric tonnes.
With products made from natural oils and fats from palm oil and palm kernel oil, Sinarmas Oleochemical and its supply chains are RSPO and GMP-certified for cosmetic ingredients; and GMP+B2 certified for feed safety. It is also Halal, Kosher and ISO (9001:2008 & 14001:2004) certified.
Victory Tropical OilVictory Tropical Oil (VTO) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Golden Agri-Resources (GAR). VTO is one of the leading sellers and distributors of palm oil in Europe and the US withcommercial offices based in the Netherlands, Spain, and America, supplying key buyers from the food, feed, energy, and oleochemical industries.
PT Dami Mas SejahteraPT Dami Mas Sejahtera is a subsidiary of Golden Agri-Resources (GAR) which commercially produces palm oil seeds. Dami Mas Sejahtera is a certified DxP seed producer since 2005.Dami Mas Sejahtera is one of the top DxP seed suppliers in Indonesia with an annual production potential of 24 M germinated seeds. The success of PT Dami Mas Sejahtera can be attributed to our strong research and development strategies by SMART Research Institute (SMARTRI) and the Plant Production and Biotechnology Division.
The Dami Mas DxP seed is well noted for its high yields as well as its high oil extraction ratios – two traits much sought after by oil palm growers. The Dami Mas DxP is developed from the advanced and well-proven oil palm breeding populations: Dami Mas Deli Dura as the “D” parent and the Dami Mas Avros as the “P” parent.
Businesses in ChinaGolden Agri-Resources (GAR) also has operations in China including a deep-sea port, oilseeds crushing plants, production capabilities for refined edible oil products as well as other food products such as noodles.Deep-sea port and storage facility: We have secured a deep-sea port that is strategically located in Eastern China along with a storage facility. The port is equipped with high-speed Buhler mechanical and pneumatic bulk grain unloaders that can operate at design rates of 1,250 tonnes per hour.
Crushing: We own domestic crushing facilities that allow us to import soybean and process it domestically. The crushing plants are located in Ningbo and Tianjin with a total capacity of 2,300,000 tonnes per annum.
Refining: Our refineries in Ningbo and Tianjin have a total capacity of 676,000 tonnes per annum. We also have a new margarine and shortening plant with a capacity of 66,000 tonnes per annum.
Sales and distribution network: Most of our products are sold in China’s domestic market. We have set up sales representative and liaison offices and collaborate with leading distributors.
