The main activities developed by Endesa Chile, its subsidiaries and jointly controlled companies are related to the generation and commercialisation of electricity and, additionally, to engineering and consulting services in all specialities.
Endesa Chile and its subsidiaries operate 178 units across four countries in South America, with 13,688 megawatts (MW) total installed capacity.
In Argentina, through Endesa Costanera S.A. and Hidroeléctrica El Chocón S.A., the company operates a total of 3,652MW, representing 12% of Argentine’s total interconnected system.
Endesa Chile is the largest electricity generator in Chile and one of the largest companies in the country, which operates a total of 5,571MW, representing 30% of the local market.
The installed capacity of Endesa Chile, its subsidiaries and jointly controlled companies in Chile is distributed in 62% hydroelectric, 36% thermal and 2% wind generation.
The Central Interconnected System (SIC), main electrical system of the country, covers from Taltal to Chiloé, territory where 93% of the population lives, where the company’s installed capacity and that of its subsidiaries and jointly controlled companies provide a total of 5,389 MW, equivalent to about 38% of the system.
The company also participates in the Far North Interconnected System (SING), through its subsidiary Celta, which supplies several mining companies. Celta’s installed capacity adds up to 182MW, representing 4% of SING.
In Colombia, through Emgesa, Endesa Chile operates a total of 2,925MW, equivalent to 20% of that country’s installed capacity.
In Peru, through Edegel, it operates a total of 1,540MW, representing 20% of the Peruvian system.
Endesa Chile also participates in the generation, transmission and distribution market in Brazil, through its associate Endesa Brasil, in partnership with Enersis.
Endesa Brasil has 987MW of installed capacity, through Endesa Cachoeira and Endesa Fortaleza, and two transmission lines with 2,200MW of transmission capacity, through Endesa Cien. Endesa Chile operates Endesa Brasil’s generation assets.
Empresa Nacional de Electricidad SA (Endesa Chile) is a Chile-based company primarily engaged in the generation and distribution of electric energy.
The Company is a parent of Grupo Endesa Chile, a group which comprises a number of entities also active in the energy sector with operations established in Chile, Argentina, Colombia and Peru.
The Company, along with its subsidiaries and affiliates, owns and operates approximately 180 hydroelectric, thermal and wind power generating units, which have a total installed capacity of more than 13,000 megawatts (MW).
In addition, the Company is involved in the engineering and construction sector, as well as consultancy services.
The Company has such subsidiaries as Generandes Peru SA, Southern Cone Power Argentina SA, Inversiones Endesa Norte SA and Compania Electrica Tarapaca SA, among others.
